A cross-section of the Arctic Ocean: Temperatures vary tremendously with depth.

There are secret inventions all over the world

The powers keep some things under wraps because of vested interests

It has been said that in recent decades almost all the major advances in technical and cultural fields are brainchildren of persons of European descent, usually of the male gender.

I think the last significant invention of the Indian subcontinent is the suspension bridge. Since then there has been nothing of particular value by way of innovation from our general part of the world.

I do not want to venture a guess as to the whys and wherefores; that is the way it seems to be.

In my little way I have done a bit on my own bat. I have put forward blueprints for:

1. A method of harvesting electricity from the ocean depths by using temperature differentials with the ocean surface.

2. Anemometers to harvest electricity from wind in windy locations.

3. An intelligence test (for general intelligence) using the rotation of data in short-term memory.

4. A creativity test.

5. A social class test (I am serious).

6. A method of importing from a country without giving the exporter nation foreign exchange.

7. A way of managing elections to exclude controversial candidates from winning.

OK, so I am a bit of an oddball, in this regard at any rate.

The burning question is exactly why people from South Asia, once the hub of civilisation, are now forced to imbibe from Europe and North America if they are to progress at all. Why?

By way of explanation, I will do a bit of explaining about what I have been up to.

About 45% of the Earth’s surface is tropical and a great deal of the remainder is subtropical; about 70% of the Earth’s surface is ocean.

The idea is that bodies at and near the surface of the water are going to be warmer than down in Davy Jones’ locker. Only about 2,000 feet down the temperature is near freezing and the pressure is enormous. Further down it is colder and pressure is higher – exponentially in fact.

What has to be done to address humanity’s pressing energy demand is to make a direct connection from the surface to the deeps using some highly heat-conductive material (aluminium and optical fibre type things) with the result that heat rushes (literally) downwards; this can either be tapped directly and turned into electricity or used to generate hydrogen and oxygen by electrolysing water to make a fuel for energy.

When I was working as a registration clerk in a statutory institution in South London (terrible days) during my lunch break I walked by a garage with a kind of elongated anemometer type revolving sign with ‘car’ on one side and ‘wash’ on the other. On days of high wind the simple contraption used to turn with tremendous speed and force. I tested it with my hands.

It seems to me that modified and much larger systems of the same on mountains and other places of strong air currents can turn the kinetic energy of the wind into electrical current to electrolyse water to manufacture hydrogen and oxygen for power generation.

The engines of the (fairly near) future will be powered by hydrogen and their by-product will be water.

This is to illustrate that the light of innovation is still with us and will strengthen with time if we think correctly.

Other people are having trouble introducing into general circulation methods of generating the energy that the world wants so much.

Part of the reason for this is that there are powerful vested interests that require for their own economic security the present reliance on oil (black gold) and other fossil fuels.

One might think that this plays into the hands of the Arabs and that the Westerners who rule the planet could hardly want that in their hearts.

Just pause to consider and reflect. If, say, humanity started to generate electricity from the ocean deeps it will follow like the alternation of day and night that all manner of black, brown and yellow people will do the same thing and when they get massive amounts of energy powered by the sun many of the constraints that impede them will vanish like morning mist in the light of the rising sun (no humour intended).

At present places like Bangladesh worry and fret about high oil prices. That is the situation the powers want to continue.

Recently, I came across an introductory article in: www.free-energy.info.co.uk and it speaks for itself:

‘The purpose of this web site is to provide you with an introduction to a series of devices which have been shown to have very interesting properties and some are [incorrectly] described as 'perpetual motion' machines.

‘What's that you say – perpetual motion is impossible? My, you're a difficult one to please. The electrons in the molecules of rock formations have been spinning steadily for millions of years without stopping – at what point will you agree that they are in perpetual motion?

‘So, why don't electrons run out of energy and just slow down to a standstill? Quantum Mechanics has shown that the universe is a seething cauldron of energy with particles popping into existence and then dropping out again. If E = mC2, then we can see that a tremendous amount of energy is needed to create any form of matter. Scientists remark that if we could tap even a small part of that energy, then we would have free energy for our lifetime.

‘The Law of Conservation of Energy is undoubtedly correct when it shows that more energy cannot be taken out of any system than is put into that system. However, that does not mean that we cannot get more energy out of a system than we put into it. A crude example is a solar panel in sunlight. We get electrical power out of the panel but we do not put the sunlight into the panel – the sunlight arrives on its own. This example is simple as we can see the sunlight reaching the solar panel.

‘If, instead of the solar panel, we had a device which absorbs some of the energy which Quantum Mechanics observes and gives out, say, electrical power, would that be so different? Most people say "yes! – it is impossible!" but this reaction is based on the fact that we cannot see this sea of energy. Should we say that a TV set cannot possibly work because we cannot see a television transmission signal?

‘Many people have produced devices and ideas for tapping this energy. The energy is often called "Zero-Point Energy" because it is the energy which remains when a system has its temperature lowered to absolute zero. This presentation is introductory information on what has already been achieved in this field: Devices which output more power than they require to run. This looks as if they contradict the Law of Conservation of Energy, but they don't, and you can see this when you take the zero-point energy field into account.

‘The material on this web site describes many different devices, with diagrams, photographs, explanations, pointers to web sites, etc. As some of the devices need an understanding of electronic circuitry, a simple, step-by-step instruction course in electronics is also provided in Chapter 12. This can take someone with no previous knowledge of electronics, to the level where they can read, understand, design and build the type of circuits used with these devices.

‘This is a very interesting field and the topic is quite absorbing once you get past the "it has to be impossible" attitude. We were once told that it would be impossible to cycle at more than 15 mph as the wind pressure would prevent the cyclist from breathing. Do you want to stay with that type of “scientific” expert? Have some fun – discover the facts.

‘There are many, many interesting devices and ideas already on the web. This site does not mention them all by any means. What it does, is take some of what are in my opinion, the most promising and interesting items, group them by category, and attempt to describe them clearly and without too many technical terms. If you are not familiar with electronics, then some items may be difficult to understand. In that case, I suggest that you start with Chapter 12 and go through it in order, moving at whatever speed suits you, before examining the other sections. I hope you enjoy what you read.’

Essentially, there are all kinds of ways of improving life and they do not come on-stream because there are vested interests who desire to keep them away because there are going to be third parties who will benefit who are unapproved.

That is all from me this week.
